What is an E-commerce?

According to Wikipedia, “E-commerce is the activity of buying or selling of products on online services or over the internet.” From what was previously said, we can stablish that these types of businesses have grown in a remarkable way; a variety of businesses are done online nowadays, leading this to the creation and innovation in areas such as: electronic funds transfers, ONLINE marketing,  electronic data interchange, etc.

It is important to highlight that an E-commerce is an online store, but not every online store is an E-commerce. To make this clear, an online store is considered an E-commerce when it sells products from just one company like Forever XII.

E-commerce types

There are many businesses’ models dedicated to those who want to keep on the track of selling online; both for those who decide to do it through E-commerce and for those who choose to exhibit their products in a marketplace.

B2B (Business to business)

This applies to companies who create electronic commerce to sell their products to other companies. This is normally used to sell raw materials, such as a shop for cars’ parts.

B2C (Business to consumer)

This type of model is adopted by many companies which sells are oriented to their final consumer; this represents almost the majority of the electronic commerce. Nike and Vans’ E-commerce are some of the examples.

C2B (Consumer to Business)

This type of commerce is based on the traditional business in which the consumer puts his service into some companies’ disposition. The web site Freelancers Workana is an example.

C2C (Consumer to consumer)

And finally the C2C type which is based on the consumers’ relationships that are done commonly in forums and online markets; one example is Ebay.

What is the marketing role in the E-commerce?

Digital marketing does not deal with an e-commerce’s creation, but it does influence his production and possible success by designing strategies to increase its reach, achieving a higher percentage of conversion and increasing the repurchase.
